JOHN PAUL G.

   Wilm’s Tumor on right kidney
Written by Paul (dad)
At the time of diagnosis JP was scared and unaware, as a 5-year old, but Hasbro made it much easier to deal with.  His first admission lasted 9 days, and he received a total of 31 chemo treatments. If we could have done one thing over, we wish we could have found a way to make port access less traumatic for JP.

The whole staff and team at Hasbro made things so much easier on JP and his parents. Our Catholic faith pulled us through as well as the countless prayers of many folks we’re grateful for in our lives.
Now JP is a healthy 7th grader who excels in basketball.

What we think of when we hear “Survivor” -  Cancer can be beat mentally even if it physically breaks you down.  In terms of the future, we feel that cancer has made JP very strong spiritually and may be a good college essay question for him to share.

Our biggest obstacle being a survivor in daily living is overcoming the fear of the unknown. That’s why our Faith is so important to us. Our advice to other families - Do what you can to get through things and leave the rest to God.
