My name is Patrick Lynch and I was diagnosed with leukemia when
I was 15 years old.
When you are in your early teens, every aspect of your life (at
least in your mind) is crucial to your existence how you
think, dress, talk, walk, and act. Once I was diagnosed with cancer
all that changed. No longer could I go to a dance on a Friday night,
get ready for a big track meet, worry about my grades, or even think
about girls. Instead, I was suddenly gaining weight from some strange
new medication, losing my hair to chemotherapy, and slowly watching
my skin turn bizarre new colors. Friends disappeared from my life,
and instead of worrying about what to do on the weekend, I worried
about what chemo I would get next.
When the teens in clinic decided that we wanted to meet and talk
about things that other kids couldnt understand, The Tomorrow
Fund made it happen. Now, The Tomorrow Fund Teens have
become a permanent part of the clinics programs. Our monthly
meetings with the clinics social worker give us the opportunity
to discuss whatever is on our minds, to look for answers, to find
friendship and hope. We offer each other support through thick and
thin the kind of support you can only get from others who
truly understand because they are in the same situation.
The teen group is a great thing for all of us, and it would not
have been possible without the generosity of people like you. Please
support The Tomorrow Fund.
On behalf of the kids in the clinic, thank you. We are the proof
that you make a difference.
Sincerely,
Patrick Lynch
